Description

Licuala peltata var. "sumawongii" is a rare and highly sought-after palm species that belongs to the family Arecaceae. This stunning plant is native to Thailand, where it grows in tropical rainforests and can reach up to 5 meters in height in its natural habitat.

Solitary, moderately sized fan palm with short trunk, up to 5 m (16 ft) tall, holds 12-15 huge, flat, undivided dark green leaves to 1.5 m (4.5 ft) across, on petioles up to 2 m (6 ft).

The palm reaches a height of about 3m (9 ft) in 15 years of growth. It can handle quite a lot of sun but not wind because of the large undivided leaf. It is best suited to a sheltered position which usually means shaded.

One of the reasons why this plant is so popular among collectors is its rarity. It can be difficult to find, and its unique appearance makes it a highly coveted addition to any plant collection. In addition, the Licuala peltata var. "sumawongii" is a slow-growing plant, which means that it takes time and patience to cultivate and maintain.

Is the Licuala peltata for sale currently?
